Structural Frame Material Types for StraBe Streetscape Furniture
StraBe offers three different materials for structural frames:
- Stainless Steel
- Aluminium
- Mild Steel
For projects within 3km of salt spray or saltwater, aluminium or stainless steel with a powder-coat finish is the recommended structural frame for durability and longevity.
For projects located more than 3km of salt spray or saltwater, powder-coated mild steel or hot-dipped galvanised mild steel is a viable option.

Stainless Steel Finishes
Stainless Steel is the most preferred material for Street Furniture for the public spaces due to its superior performance, durability and aesthetics that are hard to beat!
Within 3km of the ocean and salt spray, aluminium or stainless steel and apply a powder coat finish
Further than 3km – mild steel is fine with a powder coat, or hot dipped galvanised – superior, excellent rust resistance – disadvantages of being rougher and not as aesthetically pleasing
All powder coating is completed in house.
Benefits of Stainless Steel
- Corrosion Resistance
- Low Maintenance
- High and low temperature resistance
- Extremely High Strength
- Aesthetic appeal
- Hygienic properties
- Eco-Friendly – Recyclable
Galvanised Mild Steel
One of the less expensive protective steel coating options available, Galvanised steel refers to a zinc oxide coating that bonds to the base steel. This creates a more textural appearance and adds a form of protection against the elements.
One of the main advantages of galvanised mild steel is it’s resistance against rust, thanks to the zinc coating. This protects the steel from damage by moisture and oxygen exposure.
Paired with a powder coating to increase the life span and aesthetics of the streetscape furniture, mild steel is certainly worthy as a substitute for stainless steel.
